QFI Meeting on Sunday 3rd July 2011

Dear Members,

This is to invite you all to the QFI Meeting to be held this Sunday
(3rd July 2011).

The meeting will feature quizzes by Sriram and Ravi Mundoli.

Sriram has done a great quiz for us in the past and this one promises to be a great quiz as well. Ravi’s quiz will be the ACE ASHA quiz conducted by him in Hyderabad recently. Those of you who did not have an opportunity to take part in the quiz can do so at QFI this Sunday.

We intend to start on time. So please be there at 10 AM. Latecomers might have to join the audience!

As you might be aware, we had a great session of buzzer quizzing at the last QFI session making use of iOS devices. We will be able to have a buzzer session this time around as well if enough members bring devices. Please lets us know at qfichennai@gmail.com if you will be able to bring an iOS device (iphone, ipod touch or ipad) so we can plan accordingly.
The application to be installed is “Buzzer” by Kudit Software available on the App Store.

QFI Meeting on Sunday 19th June 2011

Dear Members,

This is to invite you all to the QFI Meeting to be held this Sunday (19th June 2011).

The meeting will feature quizzes by Siddharth Manickasundaram and Nitish Khadiya.

Siddharth has done a wonderful quiz for us in the recent past and has promised a great quiz this time around as well. Nitish’s quiz was conducted as part of the RVCE quiz fest some time back. Thanks to Ravi Mundoli and Nitish Khadiya for bringing this interesting quiz to us.

We intend to start on time. So please be there at 10 AM. Latecomers might have to join the audience!

We also plan to have a session of buzzer quizzing as part of this meeting – we plan to use iOS devices for this purpose. Members with iphones, ipod touches or ipads (and can bring them along to the quiz) are requested to email us at qfichennai@gmail.com for details on the buzzer application that needs to be installed. One such device per team would be sufficient to have a buzzer quiz. Members can lend their devices to teams which don’t have one for the duration of the round. Please let us know.

Independence Day Weekend Quizzes in Chennai

Hi,

The tag “Woodstock of quizzing” has already been applied to another quizzing extravaganza in another city, but QFI-Chennai will attempt to replicate it somewhat closer to the actual anniversary of Woodstock. Over three days in mid-August, Chennai will host SIX quizzes, all but one of them open to anybody at all who cares to land up. The Who has consented to be our opening act. Please bring your own pens, psychotropic drugs and free love.

August 13: The QFI Grandmaster quiz, a lone wolf prelims-finals format. This quiz is open to QFI-Chennai members only. However, in an often-abused loophole, people from other cities land up, pay our extremely reasonable membership fee on the spot, and take part. (Venue / timings to be announced)

August 14: A trifecta of quizzes. At 9:30am, we will start with the prelims of the AV quiz. (Please note that this is merely a general quiz that is exclusively audio-visual in nature, and NOT an
entertainment quiz.) At 1pm, after lunch, we will begin a Sports quiz. At around 5pm, we hope to begin our headliner event, the annual QFI Open quiz — a general quiz. All three quizzes are open to teams of up to three members. (Venue of the quizzes — and also of the after-party — to be announced.)

August 15: At the Music Academy, the prelims of the Chennai leg of the Landmark Quiz will commence around 3pm. The top two teams from this leg will then join the other six teams that have already qualified, for the national final of the Landmark Quiz, which is expected to begin around 7pm.

Accommodation for outstation guests can, unfortunately, not be arranged. The best we can do is direct you to the nearest TASMAC shop to celebrate your wins / drown your sorrows. But please, do come.

QFI

QFI Meeting on Sunday 5th June 2011

Dear Members,

This is to invite you all to the QFI Meeting to be held this Sunday (5th June 2011).

The quiz will be conducted by Karthik Narayan (KN) and Mario.

KN’s quiz will have a unique format. It is called Ashtottara Sata (meaning 108).

There are 108 questions woven as a single thread/ storyline spread across various genres/ topics and sounds very interesting.

Please bring a writing instrument as this will be a written quiz. Please don’t be late as we will not be going back to earlier slides for the late-comers.

Mario will soon be off to XLRI and would like to sign-off with a farewell quiz for us.

Both are excellent quizzers who have won several quizzes and have
conducted some engrossing quizzes for us in the past.

Be there to enjoy the quiz and to wish Mario the very best!!

Please be on time. Once the quiz starts, we may take the draconian step of late comers being lumped together as
audience!

Venue – PS Senior Secondary school, # 33, Alarmelmangapuram,
Mylapore, Chennai 600004
Time – 10 AM

Subscriptions for 2011 are now due. Please pay your subscriptions at
